# Today’s Pañcāṅga — calculation method

## Engine

- Library: Astronomy Engine (local, browser-side)
- Ayanāṃśa: Lahiri-linear approximation
- Calculation version: `varahi-panchanga-js-lahiri-v1`
- Sunrise definition: local geometric sunrise/sunset for the selected coordinates
- Timezone: explicit IANA timezone for the chosen location (or device timezone when using geolocation with consent)

## Inputs

Date, local time, latitude, longitude, timezone.

## Outputs

Vāra, Tithi, Nakṣatra, Yoga, Karaṇa, Pakṣa, Māsa, sunrise, sunset, next transition.

## Privacy

Location is not silently transmitted. No silent default city is applied for calculation.

## Limitations

Approximate ayanāṃśa and geometric sunrise may differ from traditional printed pañcāṅgas. Values are for research orientation, not ritual certification.
